1. What is a DreamScene?

DreamScene is a utility that allows videos and other optimised animations to be used as desktop background available for Windows Vista Ultimate users. Initially it was supposed to be called "Motion Desktop" or "Borealis". It was launched as "DreamScenes" in September, 2007. It can be used as animated backgrounds for presentations, news casts, or on any chroma screen. It can also be used on DVD/CD or Blu Ray players as a screensaver on your television.

2. How to use a DreamScenes?

Copy the video file (*.mpg) to WINDOWS Web Windows DreamScene.Right-click on a blank area of the desktop. Go to "Personalize > Desktop Background". Set Location to "Windows DreamScene Content". Now you can select a DreamScene by clicking on a thumbnail.

3. How to use a DreamScene in Windows XP?

You will require the software XPScene software to run DreamScenes on Windows XP. To run the DreamScene, select your DreamScene html-file by clicking "Display Properties > Desktop > Background > Browse". Right-click on the desktop while your DreamScene video is running to open the video control, e.g. to start/stop playback. You can use the control panel to select "Display Properties" while your DreamScene video is running.

4. How to enable DreamScene in Windows XP?

You will require either of these software VLC player or BS Player to get DreamScenes on Windows XP.

Using VLC Player to set a dreamscene on Windows XP.

Install VLC player, Change the default path (C:|Programfiles considering C:|drive as your root drive) to C:|XYZ|VLC where XYZ is any folder in your root (C:|)
drive.
Open VLC player>Settings>Preferences and then expand the Interface as well as Main Interface>xwidgets(click)
Click on Advanced settings(bottom right of the window)and uncheck Taskbar ( This won't allow VLC icon to appear on the taskbar)
Click on Video(left pane of the window) select Disable Screensaver
Expand video option & Output modules option and select Direct X, check enable wallpaper mode from the right pane
Select Play list from left pane anc check repeat current item option from right pane. Click on Save

     Open any video you would like to set as your dreamscene in the VLC Player. Right click on it while it is playing and
   select wallpaper. You will have your video set as desktop player

Using BS Player to set a dreamscene on Windows XP..

        This method is not recommended as the free version of BS Player is supported with adware.
           However to use it you can download and install the player,open any video and right click to select desktop mode, else you can just press D key while video is being played
